Are you a deaf researcher (final year of BA, MA level, PhD level or post-PhD) and interested in qualitative research methods in research with deaf people? Do you want to improve and perhaps share
your knowledge of methodologies you have already used, and get to know new and creative methodologies? Then the Researcher Deaf Summer School is a perfect opportunity for you.
The Summer School will introduce you to various methods to generate qualitative data, and will offer hands-on workshops for you to try and test these methods together with other deaf (future) researchers:
- Ethnography: traditional ethnography, auto-ethnography and linguistic ethnography

- Focus groups and interview methods
- Other: language diaries
If you are already an experienced researcher, you also will get the opportunity to share your experiences with the methods you have used.
At the end of the course, you will design a research methodology for a specific theme you are interested in, mixing and matching methods. You will present this to the other students and you will
We will share a Dropbox folder with literature in advance of the course – participants can prepare by doing reading before the start of the Summer School.
